We went to Prince Edward Island this weekend passed as you already know, if you follow me on Instagram. We had so much fun I realized I needed to split this post into two parts. Here is Part 1 of our trip:
We headed out Friday morning purchased very large caffeinated beverages and then headed back home because Jordan forgot his wallet. After muttering a few things under my breath about having to pack everything including food for the cottage we set sail again. Then I asked Jordan if he remembered his undies and his toothbrush…he said he did so we continued on.
First stop was in Sackville, NB for a picnic and a stretch on the playground. We decided the vacation started when we left the house (the second time) and instead of rushing to get to our destination we took our time and enjoyed the sights along the way.
When we arrived on the island we headed straight for the Shop & Play store to dress up like Anne of Green Gables. This was so much fun. We dressed up and the owner of the store took a ton of pictures with my phone. Jordan was really owning it. I have never seen a more unattractive Anne. I am laughing just thinking about it.
After a helping of Cow’s Ice Cream we headed straight to the cottage we rented in Stanhope. It was only a five minute walk to the beach so we unpacked and
walk ran there.
The beach is Miss Charlie’s happy place. She just loved it and as you can see it was gorgeous. We walked back with wet pants and happy faces. That night after the kids went to bed Jordan went for a drive and I got to visit with a friend from the Island.
Saturday morning we went to Green Gables Heritage House and met my friend there who conveniently has red hair. She was our “Anne” for the day. It was a beautiful property and such a gorgeous day to explore.
I’ll end part 1 of the post here with a few thoughts. First off there is no vacation in family vacation. This trip was a lot of work from the planning, to the packing, to the driving. Jordan and I were not clinking glasses of champagne while the sun was setting. We did not get massages on the beach. There was little sleep to be had and cramped corridors in our small two bedroom cottage. I will say though that there were lots of laughs, memories, and fun. It was our first vacation as a family of four and we both agreed that it felt no different than travelling as three.
Secondly: I don’t think I’ll ever book a vacation so far from a Starbucks again. At this stage of life it is not a want it is a need. I feel I could have been a lot more alert on day 2 if I would have had my latte fix.
Thirdly:it was a beautiful time of year to go on vacation but very hard to pack for. I had to be ready for hot days and cool days. Fall can be a tricky time of year for weather so I packed alot of clothes for all of us to be safe. It was too much.
Part 2 will continue on Monday and don’t forget to stop by Friday for my 5 things that make me Happy!
