Every morning I wake up, shower, put on my best dress, apply my make up and head to the kitchen to make breakfast. Being perfect is hard but somebody has to do it, am I right!? Okay, Okay let’s get real. This picture is of me trying on my Mom’s dress at her house. She would like me to let you all know that she is almost sixty and I still borrow, wear, and love her clothes. There Mom, I said it, now lets move on.
God blessed me with curly hair because he knew I would live a life struggling to be perfect. One perfect curl exists. A head full of them? Not so much. Once I had kids, I gave up on trying to dress perfectly, and match everything. My style turned from heels and hand held purses to flats and my book-bag purse.
Now don’t get me wrong, I have in no way given up. I have a rule with myself to be fully dressed and ready for the day by 10:00 am (as long as I haven’t been at work all night). This rule stands whether I am going out or at home with the kids all day. I feel my best and am the most productive when I am ready for the day.
I like clothing that is simple, easy to wear, and comfortable. I want to be able to run and play with my kids. I don’t want to have to change clothes if I need to run an errand or go out.
If I am wearing jewellery, it probably doubles as a teething toy for Mr Simon. I wear me wedding band and apple watch everyday but that is usually it, unless I am out without the kids. I am in a non-jewellery season of life. Jewellery and 11-month-olds just don’t mix. I plan to make up for it when they are older.
Leggings (or “Mom Tights” as I like to call them) are my go to pant. I can run, jump, roll in these pants which is sometimes a requirement with children. I wear them a lot around the house because they are just so comfy. My booties which as you know from my previous post make me happy are my favourite shoes for this season. I’ve been wearing them with everything.
I love admiring what other people wear. If you catch me staring at you take it as a compliment. Out of all the seasons fall and winter are my favourite ones to dress for. Give me all the flannel and knit hats that cover unruly curls perfectly.
It’s after 7:00 pm, so I will spare you a photo of what I am currently wearing (pj’s and fluffy socks). Jordan and I are ending our day with Netflix and snacks. Is that not the perfect ending to a busy day!? I’ll see you back here Wednesday and will be sharing our visit to the apple tree farm.
Until next time,
