Apple picking, last year did not happen as I was very pregnant with Mr Simon. This year we made last minute plans to go before it snuck by us. Apple picking with two kids is not an easy task so we decided to invite both sets of grandparents as back up. If you have six sets of eyes on the kids, its less likely you will lose them in the orchard.
Mr Simon had the best first visit to the orchard. Poppy handed him an apple and he was set. He was a happy camper until we took the apple away when we were leaving. It’s all fun and games until someone throws away your apple.
Now I feel the need to be honest about the fact I don’t ever actually pick apples when we go apple picking. I enjoy the fresh air, sights, sounds, and taking pictures. On this trip I picked one apple and ate as we walked through the orchard. Jordan does all the picking and I often lose sight of him in the orchard. He quite possibly picked our 3 bags really quick and settled under a tree to eat and relax where he wouldn’t be found. We also lost sight of my Mom for a while and I’m quite certain she was on the hunt for the best tree with the most delicious apples. However she will wait three days and then make me aware of this fact.
During our visit we had a couple of rain clouds pass and would have to run for cover under the apple trees. Minutes later the sun was shining bright.
Overall it was a great time, I mean there was even a Queen sighting. We headed home with full bellies and a trunk full of apples. It was the perfect way to spend some much needed family time.
We made one last stop on our way home and picked out our pumpkins. Jordan and Miss Charlie are carving them and baking the seeds while I type this. Tonight Jordan and I will be making apple pie filling with all of the apples we picked. I will be posting all about it on Monday and don’t forget to stop back on Friday to get happy with me.
