Lazy Weekends

A quiet lazy weekend is where it’s at. Am I right!? Jordan worked all weekend so I was on my own with the kiddos. Instead of planning anything or going out, we just stayed in. Sometimes that is just what we all need to do is just chill for a weekend!

We read the same books over and over and over again. My kids love to be read to. They have about four books they love, though and I can read those four books without even looking at the words. If you miss one word though (or try to skip a page) they are on you in seconds. If I sit down on the floor to play Mr Simon automatically comes and sits on my lap. As soon as I am on the floor he backs right up to me. It is so cute but sometimes I am like “boy let me breath”. This age is just so sweet. He is still pretty content to just be brought along in whatever we are doing.

As you can see above, he has also been practising his handy man skills. He loves to take things apart and then try to put them back together. I fixed and tightened this toy back up after the picture turned around and he was trying to take the knobs off his dresser. The apple does not fall far from the tree. His Daddy is the exact same way.

Playing with kids toys is not my favourite part about being a Mom, but it makes them so happy if you play with them. I try each day to take some time to just get on the floor and play whatever they want. Since it was the weekend though, I let the housework pile up and stayed playing longer than usual. We built this track a million different ways. I am a track building pro now.

Weekend lunches must be simple! The waffle sandwich is my invention. It is PB and Jelly on a blueberry waffle. Miss Charlie goes nuts for these. For Mr Simon I put cut up waffle, berries, and banana all in a bowl and cover it with strawberry yogurt. The perfect weekend brunch!

We also watched cartoons because what is a Saturday movie without cartoons? However this is always a great time to catch up on my reading. While the kids watch their favourite shows, I sit with them and read and drink my latte. This is how I get my relax on while at home being a Mama.

A great weekend had and I am looking forward to the week ahead. I am in great need for a Mommy day out and some Starbucks. That will be definitely going on the calendar for this week. Hope you are having a great Monday. I just got home from working all night so I am headed to bed! Goodnight and I will see you back here on Wednesday!
