Make time for the things you love, because I believe that will bring you true happiness. When it comes to reading people often tell me “I don’t have time” and I am answer them by saying “same, but I make time”. I don’t think everyone loves reading and it shows BUT if you do love reading then put down that smartphone and pick up a book! I get the majority of my reading in at times when others would normally be scrolling through their phone. At times I may only get to read two or three pages but I fit in when I can and right now I am reading my 16th book this year! Follow me on my Goodreads account if you want to read along with me. Here is an overview of the books I have read recently:
#1. “The Lucky Few” by Heather Avis
This book was incredible. As a Mom who has experienced miscarriages and struggled to become a Mother myself it really hit home for me. I eventually was blessed with two biological children while Heather set out to adopt. She ended up as a Mother of three and two of her sweet children have down syndrome. Reading about how God worked in her life on a road that was very scary and at times painful was amazing. I highly recommend this book and gave it 5⭐️’s. This book will change you!
#2. “Grace Not Perfection” by Emily Ley
First of all this book is beautiful! It is hardcover bright pink and gold. The paper inside is thick and full of beautiful pictures. It is a great gift for a Mom in your life who is in the trenches of career and parenting. After reading this just set it out on your coffee table. Inside are great quotes, organisational tips, and a ton of grace. The author owns a planner company and as a working Mom has some great advice. I gave it 5⭐️’s.
#3. “The Guest Cottage” by Nancy Thayer
Where have all the good cheesy romantic movies gone? Has anyone noticed they have become non-existent. If you are like me and missing those perfect, cheesy, romantic movies then this book is for you. I gave it 4⭐️’s because: yes it is cheesy and I had a pretty good idea with how it would end but I am not going to lie; I loved every minute of it.
#4. “Falling for Gracie” by Susan Mallery
I have read a few Susan Mallery books this year. They are good, easy, beach reads perfect for hot summer days. Her characters are always well thought out and of course there is romance. It took me a little bit longer to get into the story line and read the book than usual so I gave it 3⭐️’s.
#5. “Yes Please” by Amy Poehler
This girl makes me laugh. This is a witty book Amy’s crazy life. I loves reading about her childhood and knowing more about how she got into the business. She stears clear of anything too personal though and it does not get very juicy for a memoir. I gave it 3⭐️’s because I felt like it was mostly gushing about the other fellow actors in her life. There is alot of gushing over the people that helped her along the way…maybe too much!?
I have a confession. There is one book I started that I did NOT finish reading. Let me tell you this is VERY unlike me to not push through and finish a book. I made it 20% and decided I was done! To be honest I do not get this girl. I felt that it was a book of stories that maybe didn’t need to be told!? It bothered me that there was so much hype around this book and the fact is she is “that kind of girl” and she is not the kind I want to read about. So I didn’t.
Did you read any of these books? If so, please leave me a comment and let me know what you thought!
