Wow, what a busy weekend! It came and went very quickly but I thoroughly enjoyed it. This year my parents were preparing for a trip and Jordan and I were both so busy that my Mom decided we would celebrate the US Thanksgiving in November as an extended family so I just prepared for our family.
This will be the first year our family has ever followed a school schedule. With Miss Charlie going into kindergarten, we lose out in the freedom to just go and do as we please. Remember, last fall we went on a Family Vacay to PEI while everyone else headed back to school. Since my Hubby works shift work and I all night shifts we have not ever followed much of a daily schedule as it is always changing day to day. School is a great way to get on schedule though and I have been thinking up lots of goals for my “new” year. Gretchen Rubin has often said on her podcast: “Happier” that September in a lot of ways is like January in that you are beginning a new year. Now that Miss Charlie is off to school, this really rang true to me this year. So hear are some goals I have for myself for our “new” year this Fall:
We are busy enjoying this long weekend in between our work schedules and commitments. Hope you are all making time for Family & Friends too. See you back here on Wednesday where I will share how we still had fun amongst the chaos of real life!
Is it just me or is Mother’s Day a super awkward holiday? Hear me out: I feel like I am being handed a gold medal before I hit the end of the race. I have always been excited to celebrate my own Mother on Mother’s Day but honestly it just doesn’t feel like a holiday for me. Partly because.. wait: what? I have kids, and believe it or not; that is still surprising to me. Also, it is because they are young and I am still forming them into the little people I would like them to be. I find myself thinking of the people who have lost Mothers or kids and just how hard this holiday can be like the women out there that don’t have children by choice or not. I can think of several that have given me a helping hand and totally deserve to be recognize on this holiday. It takes a village. I should note that I am often very awkward when receiving praise or gifts so it make sense that this would be an awkward holiday for me personally.
We made it! We survived Easter weekend. My house is a complete mess so I will be spending the morning cleaning. Somehow my house looks like a tornado hit it even though we spent 90% of our day out yesterday. I am as confused as you are! We celebrated Easter all weekend long and just had a blast!
I have been waiting and waiting to decorate for Easter and then it just kind of snuck up on me. It is now only two weeks away! I kept myself from buying anything new because I remembered packing Easter decor away last year so I must have all kinds right!? Wrong! I only had a couple of things when I went to get it all out yesterday but we made do. I will definitely be heading to Michael’s this week to pick up more! I also need to get fresh tulips because they just scream spring. (hint hint Jordan)
I had a wonderful weekend. The “Ladies Night Out” on Friday night at my church was so much fun. I decorated for Saint Patrick’s Day, ate yummy food(everyone brought their favourite snack), and sat in a circle to play fun games. During one of the games I laughed so hard I peed a little in my pants. Guys if you are not laughing so hard that you a) cry b) pee a little(or a lot) or c) can’t breath then you are hanging out with the wrong people. This kind of laughing has healing powers in it. It is the best feeling. I love these ladies and seeing them every Thursday for Bible Study is great but getting out on a Friday night and letting our hair down is the best!
Hi Guys! This week is March Break for the students in New Brunswick and so I have decided to take a Blogger Break this week. After everyone in our house being sick, it finally ended with me. Jordan works all week so I picked up this package of Buckley’s yesterday to get me through and I headed to bed early last night with the night time version. I plan on being in my pyjamas most of the week and letting the laundry pile up but if I am feeling any better you might see me on instagram. Have a fabulous break and I will see you back here next Monday March 13th.
I trust you all had a wonderful Valentine’s Day yesterday! I did not wait to get decor, candy, and presents like some (*cough* Jordan). We were hit with a blizzard on Monday of more than 75cm of snow in the province so there was no going anywhere for those last minute shoppers. Jordan is making up for it by giving me free reign on Sephora though and made me a beautiful hand made card.
We are switching up the usual “5 Things That Make Me Happy” again this week to “5 gifts that are making me happy”. I just love hearing about what other people received for Christmas. Gifts that tend to make me happiest are the ones that make me feel thought about. It honestly doesn’t matter to me the time, energy, or cost put into the gift it is the thought that counts to this gal. When we had Christmas with Jordan’s family this year my brother & sister-in-laws, hubby and I did a gift card exchange and used this left/right Christmas game to do the exchange. So we bought gift cards (to anywhere) not knowing who would end up with which one. Both of my sister-in-laws brought gift cards to Starbucks with the hope that I would end up with a Starbucks gift card at the end of the exchange(I did). I thought it was so sweet that they both had me in mind when they were out shopping for their gift cards to bring. So sweet, now on to the other 5 gifts that are making me Happy!!!
