Happy Valentine’s Day everyone. We love to celebrate over here and a day about love is worth celebrating to me! On holidays I always do up our table the night before and have it ready for a special breakfast. I have been doing this before Pinterest, instagram, blogging, and even kids. Holidays have always been a big deal in my family growing up and I love keeping this tradition alive. Now please know our “special” breakfast is waffles, with fresh raspberries, and whip cream. I keep it pretty simple but the kids love it. It is fun to make things extra special for them.
Happy 2018 everyone and thank you so much for continuing to follow along! On New Years Eve Jordan and I celebrated our 10 year Anniversary! Wow, that came up fast, so fast in fact that we didn’t really make any plans. Nearing the date we both felt completely stressed out about how to celebrate this milestone. Many of my friends and family have taken trips for their 10 years. We, however could not afford to take a trip this year and did not want to start the next ten years in debt from a trip. We were completely stuck on what we should be doing. The only thing we had planned was my Mom was taking the kids for the night. I am a true planner so it is not like me to leave something important like this until the last minute but between work and the holidays I completely dropped the ball. On New Years eve day I woke up ran to the bathroom and lost my cookies, hello flu. At that moment I was so happy we had not paid for a hotel room or any NYE events. The next 24hrs were a blur.
This is my post before Christmas!!! I will be back again after this to tell you all about our Christmas on the 27th! Santa is almost here, the presents are wrapped, our fridge and cupboards are bursting with treats, and I am taking the turkey out of the freezer tomorrow. There is so much to be happy about right now.
We’ve been busy buying gifts and now it is time to wrap them all! I often leave this task to Jordan a day or two before Christmas. I buy the presents he wraps. My man is an excellent wrapper! This year though he is working all the days leading up to Christmas and I just wanted it done! Especially the gifts for the kids. So I have been spending my evenings with wrapping paper.
What a fun festive weekend we had over here! We really brought the Christmas spirit into our home! We drank eggnog, ate cookies, decorated some of the house, read Christmas books and watched Christmas movies. We really brought it and it was so much fun! This is why I love Christmas. It just brings so much joy and fun into our home!
November is the busiest month of the year around here. My goal each year to have ALL the Christmas shopping done by December 1st so in November I am doing the scramble that a lot of you save until December. Trust me it is just as painful but I just like to get it done and over with so I can enjoy the holidays. It has been a busy week of decorating for me. I have been decorating my own home, our church, and also prepping for an event next week. I have also been working each evening for a few hours. So today I decided I needed to “chill out!”
What a wonderful holiday filled weekend! We even got to see the Big Elf himself! November is always the busiest month of the year in our house. Busy in a good way though. We do all of our Christmas prep, shopping and decor in November. I try to be completely finished everything for December first that way I can sit back, relax, and enjoy holidays while also saying yes to all the festivities that come our way. I love being among the bustling crowds in December however I do not like to be IN them racing for that last gift.
Wow, what a busy weekend! It came and went very quickly but I thoroughly enjoyed it. This year my parents were preparing for a trip and Jordan and I were both so busy that my Mom decided we would celebrate the US Thanksgiving in November as an extended family so I just prepared for our family.
This will be the first year our family has ever followed a school schedule. With Miss Charlie going into kindergarten, we lose out in the freedom to just go and do as we please. Remember, last fall we went on a Family Vacay to PEI while everyone else headed back to school. Since my Hubby works shift work and I all night shifts we have not ever followed much of a daily schedule as it is always changing day to day. School is a great way to get on schedule though and I have been thinking up lots of goals for my “new” year. Gretchen Rubin has often said on her podcast: “Happier” that September in a lot of ways is like January in that you are beginning a new year. Now that Miss Charlie is off to school, this really rang true to me this year. So hear are some goals I have for myself for our “new” year this Fall:
We are busy enjoying this long weekend in between our work schedules and commitments. Hope you are all making time for Family & Friends too. See you back here on Wednesday where I will share how we still had fun amongst the chaos of real life!
